September 2012

September! Proved to be another busy month of racing all over the globe with Tim heading out to Las Vegas to compete in the Ironman 70.3 World Championships. Finn smashing a 70.3 race on his home turf in the Netherlands, we saw Stevie take on the Brutal Triathlon in Wales… and Brutal it certainly was and finally not so newbie Andy dip his toe in the water to take part in his first 70.3 distance race in the IM Pays D’Aix, Provence

Finn ‘Dataman’ Zwager

Finn Zwager – Finn has participated in many races since joining TT2A, and is proving versatile to all distances from Sprint to Ironman taking his place on the start line in IM South Africa in April. Finn smashed the Dutch National 1/2 Ironman championships in Almere with a 4.33hrs making him one of the fastest 70.3 athletes in T2A. Dataman lit this event up with a 31 swim, 2.33 bike and a 1.25hr run and in typical fashion, he did not claim the run saying it was a bit short. Coach asked for fast T1 and T2’s and that they were!!! A quality tough classy modest man and a stellar result 🙂 Finn’s next challenge with the ITU Sprint World Championships in New Zealand on 22nd October. It’ll be interesting to see how Finn fairs on the shorter distance 🙂

Andy Veall – Ironman 70.3 Pays D’Aix, France
For some reason Andy chose his first 70.3 race to be what is probably on of the toughest and mountainous courses on the circuit and then backed it up with what was probably one of the funniest race reports out there!!! A great race performance on debut Andy found as like all of the team who have raced at this level, that 70.3’s are no joke. Job well done 🙂

Tim Hawes  – Ironman 70.3 World Championships in Las Vegas
🙂  Tim qualified for the World Champs in Sri Lanka earlier in the year and finished this tough race on what turned out to be a hot, hot day, with grinding hills on the bike and an equally grinding run in he Nevada sun with no shade, Tim produced at 6hr39 – a tough day at the office 🙂

Steve Morgan  – Brutal Long Course Triathlon, Wales
Stevie is officially nuts 🙂 Proven by the fact he entered an Ironman distance triathlon which involved running a marathon up the highest mountain in the British Isles outside Scotland – Snowdon in Wales! Unfortunately Stevie pulled a hamstring and made the wise decision to stop and fight another day, but he’s nominated for his sheer determination to take The Brutal on 🙂
