February 2012

This month we have seen the majority of the the team race either RAK Half Marathon or Ironman Sri Lanka 70.3 or the 5150. We have 7 nominations this month and its been a very difficult decision for Committee. There’s a huge talent in the team and we have had some great achievements in each respective race.

FEBRUARY 2012

T2A ATHLETE OF THE MONTH

Marie O’Neill

Marie O’Neill – Sri Lanka 5150 & Aerofit Marie is a relative newcomer to the team, since she’s joined us she’s demonstrated a positive attitude and enless enthusiasm in training – which is certainly not an unusual trait within the team! 🙂 February has been a great month for Marie for two reasons. Firstly, Marie went to Sri Lanka and won her AG F30-34 & 3rd Female overall in the 5150 standard triathlon distance race. Second, a week later she backed it up by achieving a PB in the Aerofit Sprint Race 5 (1:19:41) – knocking a massive 11-minutes off her time since her last appearance in Aerofit Sprint Race 3 – November (1:30:06). These two results are a testomy to Maries dedication. Keep it up Marie as you can only go from strength to strength 🙂

Simone Green – RAK Half Marathon
What’s great about Simone’s performance here is she said ‘I’m not a runner’ and look at her now – sub 2 hour half marathon on debut.

Sean Mcmanon – Sri Lanka 70.3
Sean has come from 120kg when he first met Coach and has cut down to 105kg for a shot at doing the Ironman. This was the first stepping stone for such a goal and out of the past 10 weeks, 70% of his time was smack in a war zone with next to no Tri training. He is an elite super trooper. Seano certainly is the real deal team 🙂

Ian Le Pelley – Sri Lanka 70.3
It should be noted that Ian obviously had a great event which could of been even better if he showed a bit more patience however, thats racing and the Silver Fox is a great racer, one of the best racers we know outside guys doing it for a living. A brilliant result for Ian on 70.3 debut – 4.29 1st in AG M35-39 🙂

Ahmed  Al-Malki – Sri Lanka 70.3
What a race Ahmed had. It just shows how hard he’s been working over the last few months since Phuket to taking 56-mins off his over all time. Wow! A great solid performance by Ahmed!

Steve Morgan – Sri Lanka 70.3
A brave performance from Stevo getting a podium finish, 3rd in AG M50-54 after taking a tumble on the bike too. Steve has again come on in the last few months and his dedication to training its really starting to show in his racing.

Chantal El Khoury – RAK Half Marathon
Not everyone will know Chantal but she has gone and produced a brilliant half marathon from scratch. Another sub 2 hours of half marathon on debut.

March is a busy month in the T2A calendar. We shall see nominations from Ironman New Zealand, Abu Dhabi International Triathlon, DDDD and the Jebel Hafeet Camp… March is going to be interesting! 🙂
