In June we had a mix of race distances from sprint, Olympic and Ironman which reflects the shift in the teams focus from the long endurance to the short faster stuff 🙂 There was the final QF race for the GB sprint distance team in Llandudno, Wales and Ironman Austria.
This months nominations:
Q – Following the disappointment of not racing IM Switzerland 70.3 Q made a late call to enter the Llandudno Sea Triathlon in Wales, UK in a last ditch attempt to QF for team GB in the Sprint Distance race. Came 23rd in AG 35-39 in 1:29 – not good enough to QF but great experience and an incentive to up her game for next years QF races in UK 🙂
James Cresswell – had a hit out in the Olympic Distance at the Llandudno Sea Triathlon and placed 10th in AG 35-39 in 2:36 in a tough field on a tough hilly and windy bike course – and may I add the water was freezing!!!
TT2A Athlete of the month
Guy ‘Higgsy’ Higgs
Higgsy raced Ironman Austria on 30th June and was aiming for a PB at this distance after Challenge Roth last year…. and he got it with a cracking time of 11:18:06. In the words of Coach… “Higgsy is a complete soldier with our approach to training. He reminds me of athletes such as Capt.Carl and National among others who never miss a session I give them. Great racing, a PB and came through safe and looking for more!!”… Well done Higgsy!!! 🙂 You can read Higgy’s race report here
