April was a quiet month on the T2A race calendar, however we did see one of the team take on her first half ironman distance race in Texas. So without further ado…
TT2A Athlete of the Month
Carla ‘Super C’ Botha
On the basis that Super C raced to her ability, fought hard and listened to the R/W strategy set out by her Coach, CP reckoned 6.30hrs would be the mark as a few niggles and illnesses had prevented her training in some key weeks leading up to the event.
Carla had a great swim and finishing in 35mins, which was well in the top 1/4 in her age group. She went on to bike 3.09hrs, another respectable time and with dead even running for the first 14k and she finished her run in 2.28hrs.
Carla followed the game plan to clockwork with a perfect display for a newbie. We’re so proud of Carla, she came from nowhere and broke CP’s predicted 6.30hrs in her first 70.3 event by 10mins with an overall time of 6.20hrs. You can read Super C’s race report here.
