16 riders entered the Tour de Toot Al Qudra Stage 1 Classic 150km. Teams registered: Orica 6 athletes, BMC/Black Nomads 4 athletes, Sky System 5 athletes and CSC racing 1 athlete.
The TdT Stage 1 victory was taken by Orica Green Edge, the team tactically worked to hold off Chris Sellar, Sky and Piers Constable, Black Nomad. The other teams were blown apart in the wake…
Andy V, Sky ‘that was a hardcore ride! blew to pieces at 105km in. Stuey set off like a rocket from the get go. first 2 laps were awesome, last one sucked big time! the cresswellians were outstanding!’
Anders, BMC ‘Good thing I put the disc wheel on since I believe it’s most efficient at 18-20km/hr….’
Tron, CSC ‘Never suffered on a bike like that before. 150k mostly solo in that heat smashed me all over the place. I now remember why I was a short course athlete… Great morning, was all in from the gun, that said some of you lot are so strong it’s frightening. Cheers team, already looking forward to next weeks TT’
Jason Metters, Orica Green Edge ‘Colleen Byrne, Suz Newton and Zoe Cresswell are 3 very strong girls, very strong. Best thing I ever did was sign Orica. They were freight trains, complete team players. Im sorry Sharon and Allan, trust me, they were thoroughbreds and nothing under 35kph was in their vocabulary.’
Looking forward the TdT Stage 2 – Team TT over 80km to be held next week…
Piers and Amer raced 70.3 St. Polten in Austria on Sunday 25th May 2014. It was another fun day on FB as Sunday was a public holiday in the UAE which meant we could sip coffee and watch our boys go round. Both were in
very solid form, the best form Coach has seen them in since he started working with them 2 1/2 years ago… and the numbers do not lie..
Amer took on his nemesis race – 70.3 St. Polten for a third time, completing the race in 2011 (6:45:03) and 2012 (5:28:38). He had a controlled swim, gave something on bike and hold tempo running finishing in 5:02:50. Amer is coming into form for Challenge Roth in July.
Piers also had a fantastic day out delivering a 12-min PB over the half ironman distance finishing 19th in his AG40-44 in 4:46:08. Piers went for a controlled bike with no data with the aim to blast run – his run time 1:30:00 🙂
It’s been a huge month with Suzi racing down in Busselton and Andy, Anders and Marcy smashing Majorca. May comes off a great April with the Duathlon races basically owned by T2A, not too mention our bike racing efforts fronted by Clipboard and the Atlantis podiums! 🙂 This weekend the army marched on with Sam flying the flag for T2A in France. The 70.3 Pays d’Aix race is simply stunning, one of the best races on the circuit.
Sam’s in great swimming shape and biking very well and was in better form he was for the Dubai marathon in January, however a recent groin injury limited his run training significantly but quietly confident he could make some time on the swim/bike and transitions and jog the run and attempt to beat last years brilliant Aix debut (5:08:39).
Fantastic racing by Anders, Marci and Andy at 70.3 Mallorca with some solid performances. Marci smashed it on debut, Andy V got a 37-min PB over the distance and Anders had a superb race, considering Anders had been sick in the preceding weeks which hampered his final preparations so his run didn’t quite go as he would of like, but still impressive! The results…

With Suzi’s stunning 25min PB and one of the greatest T2A bluffs of the modern era down in Australia with her 9th place out of 80+ girls, we now move onto 70.3 Mallorca. Its a unique month Team with 70.3 Busselton, 70.3 Majorca, 70.3 Aix, 70.3 Austria making May very impressive for a small team like T2A. Let’s not forget the Chief races IM Cairns in June with Allan racing 70.3 Denmark from there!!
Anyway, its Anders the Viking, MarcyMoo and Sky racing captain Andy Veall turn to shine this week. Can they beat Q’s 5.16hrs is the question?
I have had a good chat with the guys, they are all set, its a big deal for Marcy in particular as we met 2 years ago. Her first structure with me included sessions such as, 20min run which consists of 5mins jog and 5min walk * 2 with 2 days off. Swim sets were 800m which consists of 12 * 25m on 1 minute ( with fins ) and that was once a week. Bike sets were gym bike for 20-30mins at 70% level ” if your up to it off a solid start to our training”
Seriously Team, they were her sets, she has moved up the ladder and even won a Duathlon 4 weeks back beating the “bluffer” Suzanne. I am super proud of you Marcy, it’s a big deal where we started and where you are today, kudos for believing in me and what I stand for in addition to NEVER giving up. There is even talk of an IM in 2015? Well, I have not talked to her about that yet but will after she runs Dubai marathon 😉
Goodluck guys, let’s track them on www.ironmanlive.com
with the race being held Saturday
the 10th of May from 10am UAE I believe? Just in time post training to sit down, relax and watch your team mates compete!!!
A surprise result down in Busselton for Q! A 25min PB and one of the greatest T2A bluffs of the modern era down in Australia with 9th place out of 80+ girls. Read SuziQ’s race report here
